This Spice is as Good as an SSRI!

Which brings me to saffron.

If SSRIs are supposed to be the gold standard for depression, then why are studies showing that saffron works just as well—without the side effects?

Multiple clinical trials have compared saffron to fluoxetine (Prozac) and other SSRIs.

🔹 Saffron performs just as well as SSRIs for mild-to-moderate depression. In one study, 30 mg/day of saffron was as effective as 20 mg of fluoxetine for reducing depression symptoms—but with fewer side effects.
